Alarm wrist watches made their first appearance at the beginning of the 20th century, often with various problems due to the complexity of developing such a compilation for a wrist timepiece.
JLC developed the Memovox in 1949 and introduced it to the public in 1951, using the hand-wind cal489 movement.
Cal814, a manual wind too, was introduced in 1953, hosting small changes from 489, untill 1964.
Various case materials, dials, hands and sizes were used during that time but the characteristic double crown arrangement remained of course. Bottom crown for winding the watch and setting the time, and top crown for setting and winding the alarm function.
On offer is a Jaeger LeCoultre Memovox from that era, with the manual wind K814 (Kif shock protection) in very good and honest condition for its age.
The not so often met case, with thick straight lugs, is sharp and unpolished. Dimensions 35mm without the crown.
Original and unrestored hands in very good condition.
Original dial in very good condition having the hour dots and alarm triangle sympathetically relumed some time in the past.
Cal 814 keeping accurate time, serviced by JLC in 2016, were the bottom crown was also replaced with a JLC service crown.
Alarm works also as it should.
Lug dimensions 18mm

This beautiful Memovox comes also with a new handmade vintage black leather strap with silver stitches.
